What we do on the day
Once you’ve made the well-informed choice of selecting Hamill Floors to install your new carpet we'll come to your home or business at a time most convenient to you for the installation.
We may not always be able to give you an exact time of arrival but we aim to be with you within the allocated timeframe as often as possible.
Once we’ve finished your installation our team will walk through the job with you to ensure nothing has been missed and that you are satisfied with the job. Walking through the job with your installer gives you the opportunity to ask any questions about the final details and clarify anything that may need follow up work.
Preparing for installation
We ask that you are home on the day of the carpet installation to discuss any important decisions beforehand. Being there will ensure that the correct carpet or flooring product is installed in the right areas. It’s also a good idea to have all your paperwork and floor plans available for the installer when they arrive so that any questions or queries you may have can be answered on the spot.
Ensuring all pathways, hallways and rooms are clear of obstacles for our installers will help us maintain a safe and secure work environment for everybody.
Ensuring your safety on the day
Installing new carpet is a construction project so please be prepared for some noise and strong odours during this process.
Installers use tools and techniques that can make the work areas hazardous so be aware that you may need to stay well clear of the work area once we commence work. Make sure that any pets or small children who may be present are supervised and are in a safe place way from the work area.
For people with respiratory considerations or sensitivity to dust and other allergens we recommend they avoid the construction area until the work and clean-up is completed.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding allergies or other issues please let us know prior to the installation.
After the installation
It is important to keep doors and windows open to ventilate the house where possible. The smell from some of the chemicals and adhesives used in carpet installation can remain for 48 – 72 hours after the installation.
Carpet should be installed in accordance with Australian and New Zealand standards and manufacturer’s instructions (carpet, underlay, floor preparation materials and installation adhesives). You can find out more about these standards on the Carpet Institute of Australia’s website.
If you’re not satisfied with our work we will work with you to resolve any issues.
